How long will it take to move overseas?
Your international move can be done in as little as 7 day (if you live right next to a border), but they can take up to 45 days. Much like the price of your international move, the duration depends on how much you’re transporting, and how far you’re traveling. If you’re moving several shipping containers worth of stuff, it may take some time for customs to clear everything.
What is door-to-port delivery?
When you’re moving overseas, you get two main options: door-to-port delivery, and door-to-door delivery. If you choose door-to-port delivery, your movers will pack up all your stuff, and transport it to your place of departure – whether it’s a port or an airport. Next, your belongings will be shipped to your destination country, but from there, it’s up to you to deal with customs and importing.
On the other hand, door-to-door delivery means your movers will transport everything to your place of departure, and once your belongings arrive in your destination country, there’ll be a team there to handle the customs. After everything clears customs, it will all go straight to your new home.
How can I move my stuff to another country?
International movers will rely on land, sea, or air transport to get your belongings to point B. What method they choose really depends on the distance to your destination, and whether your destination has ocean access in the first place. Air freight is typically the fastest, but it’s the most expensive. On the other hand, sea freight takes a long time, but it’s cheaper.
